Aim of the Friends

The Friends aims to support the restoration, repair, and running of St Augustine’s, Ramsgate, including the Shrine of St Augustine and the National Pugin Centre. The Friends aims to promote great awareness of the significance of this site, especially its architectural and historical importance for all people.

St Augustine’s is a monument of both the coming of Christianity with St Augustine in AD 597, who landed close to this site, and to the achievements of the Gothic Revival and its leader Augustus Pugin (1812- 52) who built this unique place. It is worth saving and supporting for this and future generations.
