Priest Chaplain Fr Simon Heans

Fr Simon read History at Peterhouse, Cambridge, and studied Theology at St Stephen’s House, Oxford, and Heythrop College, London, where he obtained a Masters degree. He taught medieval and modern history at Lancing College for eighteen years, and was baptized and ordained for the Anglican ministry in its Gothic chapel, the first architect of which was a friend of Augustus Pugin.

After further school chaplaincy work in Worcester, he served as a curate in Brighton and a vicar in Beckenham. He entered the Catholic Church through the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham and was ordained a Catholic priest in 2011. Following six years in prison chaplaincy, he came to Ramsgate in 2018. He is a member of the Pugin Society.
